Railroad Avenue Fitness Opens in East Hampton
Nicole Starr Castillo

A new personal training gym, Railroad Avenue Fitness, has opened in East Hampton. The new facility offers 2,000 square feet of top of the line exercise equipment for personal trainers and their clients. The gym, built by personal trainers for personal trainers, concentrates on offering its clientele a spacious comfortable facility with state-of-the-art equipment and no membership fees. Owners Elisa Lattanzio and Chris Carney, who are both personal trainers, are also available for new clients and walk-ins. Railroad Avenue Fitness is open to any certified personal trainer to train their clients at their facility as well as handle new client walk-ins. Each personal trainer can tailor the individuals’ workout program to their needs based on their ability and problem areas.

The equipment on the main floor includes a selection of Life Fitness machines including two treadmills, which feature personal entertainment systems and television screens, two stationary bicycles and an elliptical. As well there are over a dozen state-of-the-art weight-training machines that emphasize strength training. Flanked by a wall covered with mirrors, the space is open and airy with lots of natural light. The downstairs studio features free weights and apparatus for core stability and balance training.

Elisa Lattanzio has a BA in sports medicine from Radford University, VA and an associate’s degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant from Suffolk Community College. She spent five years at East End Physical Therapy and then the past eight years at East Hampton and Sag Harbor Gym as a personal trainer. Lattanzio is certified to train by the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Chris Carney is certified to train by the American Council on Exercise. He also spent four years training at East Hampton Gym. Carney is best known for his work with Soldier Ride a cross-country bike ride that he spear headed to raise money and awareness for wounded soldiers through the Wounded Warrior Project.
